The Head Coach of the Nigerian Paralympics Powerlifting Team, Coach Feyisetan Are has commended Peak Milk, Nigeria’s no. 1 milk brand produced by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC for coming to the aid of the athletes with its decision to take over and turn around the Gymnasium at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos and equip it with modern training and fitness equipment.
The handover ceremony of the gymnasium to the brand by the Honourable Minister for Youth & Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, took place at the National Stadium Complex, Surulere, Lagos on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Mr. Are described this kind gesture by Peak Milk as the best thing that has happened to sports development in Nigeria in recent times, as this would further enhance the training process and enable a better performance from the team while also inspiring them to do more.
He mentioned that the athletes have endured training with obsolete and non-functional gym equipment and facilities but despite all these odds have won several medals and honours for the country at both continental and global competitions.
The coach also used the opportunity to specially appreciate the Peak brand for nourishing the athletes through a monthly supply of Peak Milk.
The Honourable Minister for Youth & Sports described the effort of Peak Milk to renovate the gym as a welcome development, which is in line with the private-public partnership drive of the Federal Government in achieving its developmental goals.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, Mr. Ben Langat, stated that the decision to renovate the gym is in line with the brand’s promise to enable and empower its teeming consumers to attain their Peak regardless of their limitations or challenges.
Langat noted that the achievement of the Paralympians is an authentication to the fact that individuals and indeed a country can attain greatness regardless of the limitations and difficulties that they may be faced with.
“For Peak Milk as a brand, supporting the Paralympians is our way of inspiring greatness in Nigerians by using their story to reach out to millions of Nigerians, encouraging them to explore their potentials regardless of whatever limitations they may have,“ Mr. Ben Langat said.
