“FrieslandCampina WAMCO, the biggest investor in local milk production in Nigeria” – Honourable Minister for Agriculture

Chief Audu Ogbeh, the Honorable Minister  for Agriculture noted this yesterday while declaring open the National Livestock Conference organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organisation.

 

The conference objective is to “Proffer solutions to address major constraints limiting livestock production and productivity in the country including farmers-herders clashes.”  

At the opening ceremony, FrieslandCampina WAMCO was presented with a portable motorised milking machine with the capacity to milk 50 cows a day. According to the Honourable Minister, the presentation was part of FMARD’s commitment to public-private  partnerships in improving dairy farming as well as in recognition of FrieslandCampina WAMCO as the biggest investor in local milk production in Nigeria. The Minister also registered his satisfaction at the peaceful co-existence observed in the local communities where FCWAMCO operates its Dairy Development Programme.

In response, Managing Director, Ben Langat, expressed his gratitude and re-affirmed the company’s commitment to dairy farming with five Milk Collection Centres across Oyo State; focus on strengthening infrastructure for quality production through efficient quality improvement programme involving extensive training of the dairy farmers and thorough follow-up on the implementation of quality procedures; grazing and breeding to ensure high quality of milk and increased daily quantity.
